ATT: Hospitality Employers
Beginning late January 2012, the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) will commence a targeted compliance campaign in Queensland’s accommodation industry. The campaign will run for the next three months.
The campaign will involve FWO Inspectors auditing up to 125 accommodation providers throughout Queensland to check staff are receiving:
- The correct wage rate
- The correct penalty rates
In addition, payslips and Employee Records will be checked for compliance with the fair work legislation.

- Brisbane
- Gold Coast
- Sunshine Coast
- Airlie Beach
- Bundaberg
- Cairns
- Dalby
- Gladstone
- Hervey Bay
- Mt Isa
- Rockhampton
- Roma
- Stanthorpe
- St George
- Toowoomba
- Townsville
According to the FWO, the accommodation industry is one of the main sources of underpayment complaints, and generated the highest number of calls to the Fair Work Infoline last financial year.
